Since its participation in the Isle of Man Tourist Trophy (TT) Races in 1959, Honda has been continuing pursuit of numerous racing challenges, with the intent of developing truly innovative technologies and cultivating excellent engineers through the process.
In the 2016 season, Honda participated in 8 classes in 6 categories of Motorcycle World Championship racing, and the Dakar 2016. In the FIM* Trial World Championship Series (WCT), Toni Bou achieved an unprecedented 10th consecutive championship title. Tim Gajser won his first championship in the FIM Motocross World Championship Series (MXGP) MXGP class. On Honda’s 50th anniversary since first participating in premier class World Grand Prix racing, Marc Marquez won his third MotoGP FIM Road Racing World Championship Series premier MotoGP class title and Honda won the 22nd Constructors Title.

Since 2015 season, Honda is competing in the FIA* Formula One World Championship (F1) as a power unit supplier for the McLaren-Honda.
In the FIA World Touring Car Championship (WTCC), Honda is providing the Civic WTCC equipped with a 1.6-liter direct injection turbo engine.
In the IndyCar® Series in North America, Honda Performance Development, Inc. (HPD), a subsidiary of American Honda Motor Co., Inc., supplied HI16TT, 2.2-liter V6 twin turbo engines for the 11 machines raced by 6 teams in 2016 season.
